Old Sturbridge Village

Instead of packing for North Carolina (leaving tomorrow!) I took the kids here today. (With Nana) I haven't been since my class trip in 3rd grade. It was totally fun. More hands on stuff than I expected. The kids were completely into it - especially Emma. She is all ready for Plymouth Plantation where Deb claims they stay in character at all times. (Which freaks me out a little...) At OSV they are more like park employees who just happen to be dressed up in period clothing and knowledgeable in certain areas. We pretty much covered the whole place. We also did the stage coach ride and boat ride and played in the dress-up area. Very fun day-trip!

Hee hee, no wonder you weren't checking your e-mail every 5 seconds today like I was (in between reading, of course). Cool idea. As a Mom, you totally rock with the ideas.

You've never been to Plymouth Plantation?? My friend Patrick (an American history buff) worked there one season... he did get to come out of character at the end of the day, but it was hard for him to shake the accent sometimes. :) Think of it more like Disney World, where Mickey has to be Mickey until the actor gets to the dressing room. But YES... the kids have fun with a grown man who claims to not know what a car is... instead insisting that they must have had a three-day horse journey from west of the Connecticut (conn-eck-tih-cut) River. Very fun!
